Stop Whining?

In response to the article found at: http://www.modbee.com/opinion/letters/story/422060.html
Oh my … I scarcely know where to begin.
*deep breath*
How about we start with the premise that these “same-sex friends”, as termed in the article, simply take the initiative to draw up proper documentation to get deal with the legality of medical issues and burials? It seems somebody has forgotten that pesky Supreme Court ruling that separate is *not* equal! Perhaps I am being too simplistic here, as I am looking solely at the legal aspects of the argument.
Upon further reading, the author must also be a very distinctive authority on the human brain (which every other distinguished psychologist, psychiatrist, and neurologist can only fathom an
educated guess at with current available knowledge) as he/she demands that gay couples “stop whining” about rights that they obviously intentionally give away when they make the conscious
choice to “opt for same-sex coupling” … like it’s what … leather bucket seats? I’ll grant him one term of agreement: life isn’t fair. I mean, those of us functioning with any more than a brain stem are assaulted by his/her brand of insanity almost daily.
But this *is* the United States of America! This glorious country was born on the ideals of
equality. Our own revolution was a fight for equality, and since we have fought for the equality of all those that fill our great nation. The author’s claim that *anyone* should remain complacent in their inequality in *this* nation is, at best, ignorant, and at worst, completely un-American. Lucky for him,
he/she can, ironically, still whine to his/her heart’s content, all in the name of freedom … I will happily indulge in my freedom to simply shake my head and laugh.

“This is an emergency crisis we’re in. The entertainment media is affecting everything on the planet in a very negative way. I’m only interested in rock ‘n’ roll. Rock ‘n’ roll is a music that represents truth. Your TV channel has taken the word “rock” and knocked the “roll” off the end. You made rock this umbrella term for everything. That’s wrong. Shakira isn’t rock. These country artists with fur coats aren’t rock - or country. I offered a video to VH1 of my band playing in the studio and they don’t want to air it because it had musicians playing in it. They want some babe walking on the beach or whatever. I got turned onto this music by watching the Beatles and the Rolling Stones actually on TV playing their guitars. It completely took me over. When you can’t see musicians playing any more, I’m not interested any more.”

Over the Limit!

I miss two things: tech work and running. One is trickier to get, but the other isn’t.
Why? I want to run another marathon. My heart yearns for the long miles again, the hellish runs at Knight’s Ferry, the build-up to the race, the pain, blisters and sore muscles that let me know I was alive… Today, I realized something. Despite how little of it I’ve done lately, despite the low quality and quantity of it all…
I am a runner at heart. Time to dust off the water belt, mix up some drink, and just go for it. Fast or slow, long mileage or short, the road’s calling me again.
Anyone up for a relay in December? CIM (the California International Marathon), up in Sacramento, is tons of fun. You only need four people for a team
I might join one with my family, but I’m always up for going to running events with lots of people.

It’s probably happened to you on one occasion or another… your favorite electronic gizmo, be it a laptop, a radio, or any other device powered by an adapter, stops working. Wiggling the adapter plug works for a little while, but ultimately you know time is limited for your device. This happened to me yesterday.

The French Government announced today that it is enforcing a ban on the use of fireworks at Disneyland Paris. The decision comes the day after a nightly fireworks display at the park, located just 30 miles outside of Paris, caused soldiers at a nearby French army garrison to surrender to a group of Czech tourists .

Well, I bit the bullet and upgraded to the new version of WordPress, 2.5 to be exact.
It’s shiny and pretty. I like it.
Happy Times

Some songs just remind me of the good times. Normally, I’d ignore sappy or stupid ones, but sometimes, memories are linked tightly to songs. Case in point, Liz Phair’s somewhat forgettable song, Why Can’t I. I heard this song many a summer ago, during a time of rapid change and growth. The timing seemed uncanny back then, as I had just met this amazing girl who sparked me in a way that has yet to be replicated; suffice it to say, she was probably my first “serious” romantic interest. Summer love… gotta love it.
Anyhow, it just reminds me of how music can trigger so many feelings and emotions in humans. It’s powerful stuff, that’s for sure.

A woman has a close male friend. This means that he is probably interested in her, which is why he hangs around so much. She sees him strictly as a friend. This always starts out with, you’re a great guy, but I don’t like you in that way. This is roughly the equivalent for the guy of going to a job interview and the company saying, You have a great resume, you have all the qualifications we are looking for, but we’re not going to hire you. We will, however, use your resume as the basis for comparison for all other applicants. But, we’re going to hire somebody who is far less qualified and is probably an alcoholic. And if he doesn’t work out, we’ll hire somebody else, but still not you. In fact, we will never hire you. But we will call you from time to time to complain about the person that we hired.

Applications and Jobs

I just found two (yes, two) IT job postings in my area. This is a rare opportunity, but a welcome one. I haven’t been having much luck in the job field these days, but if I got a tech job, it’d be 0 to 60 in nothing flat. As grateful as I’d be to have even a job at Starbucks or some other local eatery, I’d be ecstatic to get back in the field again. I miss my technological battlegrounds.
Ooh, think I found another in the paper. I’m so putting another one in *grin*
